I had a lot of fun doing my little Christmas home tour last year and I really wanted to do it the same way again this year–have a day where I cleaned the whole house to perfection, did the tablescape and had people over for dinner. But this year has just been a little too exciting for that to happen. Fortunately, however, I was able to get pictures of just about everything that got decorated, though on different days. And I straight-up didn’t even actually clean the front room when I was taking pictures of it. I just moved the pile of junk around so that it was never in the shot. (Just keepin’ it real. 🙂 )
So, though it wasn’t as perfect as the dream, I am really pleased with how everything turned out! And one thing that is a solid improvement on last year is that I took pictures while I had daylight! It made a huge difference! Take a look.
Welcome to our Christmasy home! I found that sprig of evergreen business for cheap and loved it but didn’t really have a vision for it. But it made the perfect festive addition to our ladder! The whole front room. My color scheme (hopefully it is obvious) was white and red I had some fun with ribbon on the tree this year. I love how it fills things out and really anchors the color scheme. This detail picture just turned out really cool. The mantel in all its glory! I had a theme for the mantel of Christ as the Light of the World. I always feel like I really want the mantel to be fully Christ-centered because it is my focal point, and He is the most important part of everything. This beautiful picture was a Christmas present last year. It was the perfect thing for my theme this year! I don’t think anybody really noticed this; but in the lantern I had the Scripture from John where Christ declares Himself the “Light of the world.” This is a sign I used last year with the letters painted silver. But the paint was such that you couldn’t really read it. It worked out marvelously in red! Also, I am still in love with the sparkle nativity Josh made me last year! Josh painted the gorgeous water-color paintings to match the season! They were PERFECT! I made the Merry and Bright pillow on the couch and spent the whole season wishing I had stuffed it fuller. Maybe I will actually do it for next year. 🙂 The hutch fully decorated for the first time ever! I just loved everything about how it turned out. This picture really doesn’t do justice to how beautiful the banister looked. Josh did an amazing job decorating it!
This year didn’t get an official tablescape; but the counter did get decorated and we used some of the gold stuff I loved from last year that didn’t match either of the other rooms’ color schemes.
Ta da!
Then we move into the family room. I went for the winter-wonderland theme again this year with blues and whites.
The room at large I have been wanting a majestic winter deer since last year, and here he is! So majestic! Highlighting my “Sleigh Bells Ring” sign Josh painted for me last year. It’s still perfect (just like Josh). I saw this tree at At Home and thought it was pretty and expensive. Josh made it for me for about 1/3 the price I saw it there. He’s seriously so great! Christmas piano! I put some French Christmas carols up because it makes me look classy. 🙂 This is the kids’ tree and nativity area. This is a much more accurate representation of what our life is actually like.
So there you have it! It felt so special to have the house so pretty all season! I loved when people came over because I felt like, with the decorations and the Christmas scented candles we had, it was like walking into a Christmas fairytale just coming into the house. But maybe that was just me. 🙂
